This detailed drawing depicts two World War I soldiers wearing gas masks and military helmets. They are armed with rifles and positioned against a harsh, war-torn landscape. The soldiers' gas masks feature large, round eyeholes and a textured surface reminiscent of a filter. One soldier in the foreground extends a gloved hand, while the other stands behind with a rifle. The background features gnarled, bare trees with sparse foliage, a shabby fence, and a flying bomber overhead. The drawing is executed in a detailed, textured style with visible hatching and shading, creating a stark, tense war and apocalyptic atmosphere. The limited palette features toxic colors, ominous reds, sickly cyans, and rich purples. Philippe Druillet, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Otto Dix, M.C. Esher
