Is there a way to decouple from Google account and enable email login after the fact?

I registered with a Google account but now I want to log in with an email address. Is this possible?

No, unfortunately email remains an afterthought - it cannot be added as an authentication method once an account is created & the address cannot be modified if you do sign up using email.
