Prompt Structure Basics

The text prompt box in your AI text-to-image generator is your canvas, and the words you use define the content that will appear.

Fundamental Rules:

  1. Word Order Matters: AI prioritizes words at the beginning of a prompt more than those appearing later.

  2. Detail Placement: Adding details further down the prompt can emphasize importance.

  3. Clarity is Key: If you specify details, they must be essential to your image.

Structuring Your Prompt

Your prompt should follow a structured approach with four key sections:

1. Introduction
  • Define your project: painting, photo, illustration, etc.

2. Main Subject
  • If you have a character, describe them here (e.g., ethnicity, hair, expression).

  • Describe their action (e.g., standing tall, running, sitting).

  • Specify their clothing from head to toe.

3. Overall Settings
  • Define the background (e.g., cityscape, forest, studio backdrop).

  • Describe mood and lighting.

Balancing the Prompt

The length and structure of your prompt affect how well AI interprets and weights the words:

  • Keeping sections concise and of similar length helps avoid confusion.

  • Longer prompts allow for better balance, similar to stabilizing a long stick versus a short one.

Working with LoRAs

LoRAs introduce additional weights that may shift focus within an image. To counterbalance this, add more details to other elements.

4. Extra Emphasis Section

If a specific detail is crucial (e.g., “wearing a fur coat”), reinforce it here:

Example:

  • "Make sure the fur coat is pristine lime green with a high-rising broad collar, puffy round shoulders, and large sleeves with wrist-cuff fur collars."

Why this works:

  • Repeating key elements keeps them relevant and increases their importance in the AI's interpretation.

  • Repetition acts as an emphasis tool, ensuring clarity and consistency.

By following these guidelines, you can refine your prompts for more controlled and precise AI-generated images.
