Freckles

This is a photo series, wholly generated using A.I.

WARNING: SOME IMAGES ARE NSFW.

One of the most unique features that's extremely photogenic, are freckles.

Freckles are spots of concentrated pigment that are typically reddish-brown or reddish-yellow in color, occurring on the skin of humans and some animals. They are caused by clusters of melanocytes, the cells that produce melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. Freckles are commonly found on the face, arms, legs, and torso, and they can be more noticeable in people with fair skin.

Freckles are not exclusive to Caucasians. They can occur in people of all races and ethnic backgrounds. However, they are more common in people with fair skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. Freckles are believed to have a genetic basis. They are thought to be caused by variations in the genes that control the production of melanin. However, freckles are not a genetic disorder, and they do not have any significant health effects.

Western societies traditionally perceived freckles as imperfections. For example, Pliny the Elder described freckles as spiritual and religious stains.

This perception changed after the mid-20th century, when a tan, and the freckles associated with it, came to be desired as a status symbol indicating a life of leisure. Freckles became increasingly fashionable in the late 20th century as a result of the 1960s "youthquake" movement and through association with popular figures such as the model Twiggy and the musician Jane Birkin. In the early 2000s, freckled models were a trend in advertising and fashion.

By the 2020s, the popularity of freckle tattoos further increased due to their popularity on social media such as TikTok.

As all of these portraits are A.I generated, keeping the traits and most importantly following the technical aspects of photography was the key.

Using prompts to replicate natural lights from a single source and prompts that replicate a nice soft octa box/parabolic light source, to highlight the freckles and generally the character and structure of my subjects.

I love the look of the having the lens extremely close to the subjects face and extreme shallow dof, so as to create a 'pop'. I was interested to explore the possibilities which might very rarely exist in real world - Albinism & Freckles.

I may not be perfect at recreating these aspects, but the CivitAI generator seems to do a very good job at it. And I'm fairly new to this and taking baby steps and learning from master's here.

Realism in portraiture is something I'm drawn to the most with image generators, i intend to push them to its limits, to the point where high-end portraiture is made so easily accessible to everyone. I believe there is a story behind every face and bringing out that character has been something that many have perfected over millennia.

Why 'photograph' people with freckles?.

I was inspired by the work of Agata Serge. She has wonderfully captured the intensity and character of the people who showcase this skin condition. It felt unique and very much an exercise in character portraits, something which i want to master in.

I hope y'all enjoy this little 'Character' portrait series, i'll strive to improve them further, document amazing unique qualities and/or characters that humanity has.

Do let me know if i should publish these musings/portrait series regularly. I'm open to criticism.

Once again these are all A.I generated on CivitAI generator, which im thankful for, as it allows me to flex my creativity to the best of my abilities. I tried to cover as many different 'people' as i could.

Thanks everyone for your time and thanks to those who've inspired me to seriously take on this 'technological artform'.

Cheers!
