Getting Set Up for Easy Negative Prompts with FLUX

24

Getting Set Up for Easy Negative Prompts with FLUX is super useful when you want to fine-tune your output for cleaner, more accurate results.

What you’ll need:

FLUX Dev model

ComfyUI or Forge

sd-dynamic-thresholding extension

Let’s dive in!

First, install the sd-dynamic-thresholding extension. You can get it here

In ComfyUI, add the DynamicThresholdingFull node. It is included with Forge

In ComfyUI, connect your FLUX model to the input of the DynamicThresholdingFull node. In Forge, just hit the checkbox to enable it

Finally, for ComfyUI, link the output to your KSampler input.

Now, let's fine-tune those parameters! Any CFG over 1 will let you add in negatives.

Here’s what you need to keep an eye on:

CFG Scale: Stick between 3–7. Cranking it up makes the prompt more accurate, but too high and things might get a bit gross looking. Expect oversaturation and burn (Actual CFG not Distilled in Forge)

Interpolate Phi: It seems that this really helps turn down the saturation! Try something between 0.5–0.9 for solid results.

Mimic Scale & CFG Mode: In my experience, starting with setting both to the “Half Cosine Up” selection.

Pro tip: The higher your CFG, the more prompt-adherent your image, but be ready for slower generation. It seems to really start dragging on resources, but the results are worth it.

CFG Quick Guide:

Feeling experimental or abstract? Go wild with CFG (7+), but expect some serious weirdness!

Artistic vibes? Higher CFG (3–6), Interpolate Phi around 0.7–0.9.

Realistic images? Lower CFG (1–3), with Interpolate Phi at 0.4–0.7.

Example settings to start with:

CFG Scale: 2.9

Interpolate Phi: 0.6

Mimic Scale: Half Cosine Up or Linear Up

CFG Mode: Half Cosine Up or Cosine Up

TL;DR: Setting up negative prompts with FLUX helps refine your image generation for cleaner results. You’ll need a FLUX model, ComfyUI or Forge, and the sd-dynamic-thresholding extension. Key settings: keep CFG Scale between 3-7, Interpolate Phi at 0.7-0.9, and use "Half Cosine Up" for Mimic Scale & CFG Mode. Lower CFG for realistic images (1-3), higher CFG for artistic ones (3-6). Ready to experiment? Go above 7 for wild results!
