I learned of Civitai's Lunar Love Contest on Feb 10th and had to participate because 2024 is the year of the DRAGON, which is a huge deal in Chinese culture!
In case you didn't know, dragons are special to many countries across the world.
To the Chinese, dragons are a symbol for good fortune, power and prosperity, and as the fifth of twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac, the dragon year only comes around every dozen years - this means that we'll have to wait til 2036 for the next Civitai Lunar New Year (Dragon) contest! <3
I'm not sure what the geographical distribution of Civitai (or generative AI) users are, but I would assume that most are from the US. So, in an effort to share an authentic Asian culture and Chinese New Year with everyone, here's our set of five Lunar New Year Images!
