Civitai and Community Discourse: A Reminder on Respectful Engagement

Constructive Criticism is Welcome, Abuse is Not

At Civitai, we believe in fostering an open and engaged community. We actively encourage dialogue through multiple channels, including our weekly Office Hours streams, where we address community concerns, discuss platform changes, and provide transparency about our decision-making. We strive to maintain a culture of openness and mutual understanding, ensuring that every user has the opportunity to voice their thoughts and contribute to meaningful discussions.

We understand that recent changes to the platform have sparked energetic discussion, and we genuinely welcome all your feedback - both positive and critical. Your insights help shape Civitai, and we value the time and effort you put into voicing your perspectives.

However, there is a clear distinction between constructive criticism and outright abuse. While we are always open to hearing concerns, we cannot and will not tolerate harassment, threats, or demeaning attacks aimed at our staff, or users.

Where We Draw the Line

Our Terms of Service explicitly prohibit harassment and bullying:

1.1 Prohibited Conduct

11.2 harass, threaten, demean, embarrass, bully, or otherwise harm any other User;

While this clause primarily references interactions between users, it also applies to how staff members are treated. The team working behind the scenes at Civitai is made up of real people who care deeply about this community. Criticism is fair game, but when it turns into name-calling, threats, or personal attacks, it crosses a line.

What This Means Going Forward

  • Feedback - whether positive or negative - is welcome in the appropriate discussion spaces.

  • Abusive comments directed at staff will not be tolerated.

  • Accounts engaging in harassment will be subject to warnings, the removal of the offending comments, and in the case of repeat offenders, account bans.

We recognize that passionate discussions are a sign of a thriving community, and we do not intend to stifle healthy debate. That said, maintaining a space where everyone, including our team, is treated with basic respect is non-negotiable.

How to Share Your Concerns Effectively

If you have feedback, we encourage you to share it through:

  • The open comment sections under our announcement articles.

  • The Civitai Discord for real-time discussions.

  • Our Feedback Portal.

  • Direct messages to staff, if you need clarification on specific decisions.

We are here to listen, collaborate, and improve Civitai together. But respect is a two-way street, and we ask for the same consideration that we extend to all of you.

Thank you for being a part of this community and for helping us keep Civitai a space of meaningful conversation and innovation!
