Hey hey people, it’s Bolivante.
Over the past couple of months, I’ve had quite a few people asking about the Illustrious conversion. So, I decided to give it a shot and see how well it fits my needs. I spent some time testing it, converting a few of my characters to get a proper feel for how it works. And after all that? Well, to be honest, I’m not a big fan.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I can absolutely appreciate its strengths. In terms of style and visual appeal, Illustrious does a fantastic job. It has a way of refining artistic details that some people might find really valuable. But for me, it just feels unnecessarily complicated. It seems heavily focused on refining aesthetics, but when it comes to actual character creation, I find it lacking, or at the very least, unintuitive.
One of my biggest concerns is the sheer amount of effort required. I have over 280 characters, and the thought of converting all of them is honestly overwhelming. This isn’t something I do as a job, it’s just a hobby, something I enjoy in my free time. And if I were to take on the full conversion process, I feel like I’d burn out long before I even got halfway through. That’s not really what I’m looking for, I want this to stay enjoyable, not become a chore.
That being said, I understand that some people are really interested in seeing certain characters make the jump to Illustrious. So, I’m not completely writing it off. I’ll still convert some of the more popular ones from my collection, but it’s going to be a slow process. And honestly? That’s because, at the end of the day, I just didn’t really like it.
So, if you’re waiting for a full Illustrious conversion of everything—well, don’t hold your breath. But if you’re hoping to see a handful of key characters make the transition, then yeah, you’ll probably see them eventually. Just don’t expect me to rush it.
