I'll take the rotten tomatoes for this.
Think about it for a second. Name one site out there that even comes close to Civit. Even one.
Look at its wildly easy interface. It's amazing what you can do with it.
Look at the quality of artwork you can make here. Civit is equal to Midjourney or Dall-E if you have the skill to wrench top quality out of this thing - and the Buzz (and courage) to go for it with models like Flux. Plus unlike Midjourney or Dall-E, you can do NSFW stuff galore here.
Look at Civit's vast selection of Models and LoRa. No other site even comes remotely close. This flexibility adds dramatically to Civit's potential quality generations.
Look at Civit's economy. Rollover credits (buzz) and 10,000 buzz a month for a $10 subscription. That's an absolute mountain of art one can generate. Pixai is more generous for free users but look at their selection and quality and compare it to Civit. No comparison!
But this is unsustainable. Civit is having big growing pains. Its servers are constantly down. I've seen this a million times on other sites doing other services and when it gets this bad it's a sign that they're being crushed by the workload. That means they either raise prices, lower quality, or shut down.
We all agree that we want Civit to be here in 2026 and beyond. If we want that, and especially if we want these outages to go away, Civit needs to charge more. How much more is up for debate but what we have right now isn't sustainable.
I have never, ever in my life advocated for price increases on any service or site. Ever. But I can very clearly see that Civit is utterly destroying its competition in the AI picture generation world and it's undercutting the industry by far. But this labor of love can only go on for so long. Civit has been adjusting its buzz policies here, there and everywhere, but the facts are the facts, they need to acquire more computing power and to do that they need more revenue. Far as I know that means more ad revenue and more subscriber revenue relative to the sheer number of generation and training activity happening here.
In short: the price per generation and training needs to go up.
That never sits well with me and I know it darned well doesn't sit well with you. I accept that people will sneer at this. But you and I well know Civit delivers nuclear bang for the buck even for free users (which I have been and may be again in the future - not going to play high and mighty here!). We're riding on a gravy train of excess with biscuit wheels and that ain't gonna last the way things are going.
They already said in their last report that this site is running at a loss. That can't last, folks! Sorry, but the facts beat your feels and they beat mine, too. This article hurt me to write, but losing this site will hurt far more. Someone had to say it.
Here's to seeing Civit thriving indefinitely.
