Back when I got my computer about a year and a half ago, I also put money into getting a large hard drive since things are getting bitter in file size these days. One of the first things I did was take a long time taking every single CD and DVD I made over the years and putting them all on one file. I have made a good number of CD and DVDs due to my tendency to horde are and pictures over the years
After putting it off a while and working on it from time to time I spent a few days finally taking all the files and pictures, placing the files already organized together accordingly, and putting the unorganized pictures into one file.
In the end the file with the unorganized pictures and files alone has over 1.2 million pictures that I have been collecting since the 90s. My oldest image dates from 1993. Screenshots, official pictures, art, and so on. The ones already organized into folders together amount to 331,000. There are copies of course, so the real number is likely less. The one with mascot pictures alone has 24 copies of one image. The reason was due to being unsure if I saved a picture on a disc of not and just piling pictures into a disc to save.
After an initial lookover, sorting by type, and erasing things I do not need, I managed to get the number from over 1.2 million to 968,000. And I put the different file types into their own folders to cut down the lag from simply opening the folder. Since I collected images for so long, the most type of images I have are the JPG files with 885,000 of them.
One thing for sure is that it seems to be fate that I collected such vast amount of art since I have a good source of material and ideas to make into loras. The fun and emotionally draining part will be to organizing everything from here and on out.
