Why is this happening?
Some payment companies label generative-AI platforms high risk, especially when we allow user-generated mature content, even when it’s legal and moderated. That policy choice, not anything users did, forced the cutoff.
Civitai is not shutting down
We have months of runway. The site, community, and creator payouts continue unchanged. We just need a brief boost from you while we finish new payment rails.
FAQ
Q: What happens to the Creator Program?
A: May earnings pay out as planned. Since the Creator Compensation Pool is driven by our revenue of the month prior, we anticipate that the pool for June may be a bit smaller than the pool for May. Additionally, since there will be less Buzz flowing into the ecosystem, engagement with creator resources and therefore creator earnings will likely take a hit until we can get the new payment rails up.
Q: What happens to my monthly Membership?
A: If you don’t move to an annual plan your Membership will lapse at renewal and your account will drop to Free Tier. You can upgrade again once card payments return.
Q: Didn’t the recent policy updates fix this?
A: Those changes opened some doors, but the processors ultimately decided Civitai was still outside their comfort zone.
Q: Will I lose access to my Vaulted content?
A: Normally, Vaulted content becomes inaccessible 30 days after your Membership ends. However, we're extending that grace period to 60 days to make sure no one loses access due to these issues.
