Lin Chi-Ling
Chi-Ling,ChiLing
In the true spirit of the internet — “don’t reinvent the wheel” — our goal should be to figure out how to recover those models that were taken down by Civitai, rather than retraining everything from scratch.
Even though some models — especially celebrity ones — might seem relatively easy to recreate, the actual cost (in time, effort, and data) is still quite high. It’s unlikely many people would bother to redo this work from scratch.
So here, I’d like to share a few methods I personally use to hunt down these “lost” or scattered models, especially those based on real people. Hopefully, some of this will be helpful to others.
1. Alternative platforms
Whether it’s real-person models or NSFW ones, many creators started backing up or migrating their models to other platforms like Tensor.art, SeaArt, Shakker, and Hugging Face — especially in the past couple of months.
If you’ve followed certain creators before, chances are you can still track their uploads on these sites. Ideally, you’ll find what you’re looking for there directly.
There’s also a helpful Civitai archive site: https://civitaiarchive.com/, which stores a large number of historical links and metadata from Civitai — not limited to just real-person models.
Although many links to real-person models are now dead, the records still tell you which creator uploaded a model, which can be an important clue.
There’s also https://www.diffusionarc.com/, a similar archive, though it's more outdated and doesn’t host as much content.
You can also check out this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/s/JlSKEt90DI, which contains lots of useful guidance.
2. Search techniques
When it comes to real-person models, you usually have a name to go on. For public figures with Chinese names, be sure to search not only the Chinese characters (e.g., “林志玲”), but also:
Full pinyin:
LinZhilingGiven name only:
zhilingFull English name:
Lin Chi-LingFirst name only:
Chi-Ling,ChiLingOr even just abbreviations like
lzl
Since creators come from all over the world, the naming conventions vary wildly, so don’t give up after just one search — try a few language variations or abbreviations.
✨ Final note:
I hope this guide helps you find what you’re looking for —
even if it has already vanished from Civitai.
