I created an "AI generation code of ethics" for myself. Yes, I know it sounds ridiculous, but considering this is still a new and someone controversial technology, I felt it necessary to write a few rules for myself to make sure I don't accidentally end up on the wrong side of the law or end up getting an inflated ego. Keep in mind that this "code" is something I made for my personal use and not something I'll promote or advocate for others, however, if you feel this is useful, feel free to use it and make changes or adaptations as you see fit.
Here's what I came up with:
1. Be open and honest about your use of AI
2. Never charge anyone money for what you “make”.
3. Keep a record of what you use and how you use it.
4. Always give others credit and/or compensation when warranted.
5. Always make sure your use of AI is to the benefit of real artists, not their detriment.
6. Try your best not to call yourself an “artist” unless you made significant contributions other than prompting.
7. Always remember that you stand on the shoulders of giants.
