Let’s be honest - you’ve probably been seeing our Maintenance Mode screen more often than you’d like lately (our apologies - the bug wars rage on). So we thought: if we’re going to crash and burn now and then, at least we should look good doing it.
Our last Maintenance Mode contest was way back in August of last year, and while those entries were fantastic, it’s time for a refresh.
That’s where you come in! The Downtime Doodles Contest is your chance to get your wit, humor, and artistic skills featured on Civitai’s official Maintenance Mode page at maintenance.civitai.com - visible to the entire community during planned fixes and, let’s be real, the more frequent unplanned ones.
We need you to capture the frustration, the comedy, or the absurdity of downtime. If your work is chosen, your masterpiece (and your username) will forever grace the eyes of Civitai users furiously F5-ing the page, wondering if their scheduled posts will publish correctly.

To throw your doodles into the ring, visit the Downtime Doodles Image Collection, hit the big blue ‘Submit an entry’ button, and add your artwork (or create a new post).
You can enter up to two hilarious entries, so let your imagination run wild!
🎯 The Doodle Direction 🎯
We are looking for fun, witty, and immediately recognizable Maintenance Mode–themed artwork. All art styles are welcome! It doesn't have to be doodle-style! As long as it feels like it fits the Maintenance Mode vibe, it’s fair game.

We're not looking for random waifus, unrelated content, or images that don’t immediately make you think “oh that makes sense for a maintenance page". CivChan depictions (in a Maintenance Mode context) are acceptable - we don't dare leave her out.

📃 Rules 📃
All submitted images must be created after the contest start date of August 19th, 2025, and submitted before the end date of September 2nd, 2025 at 23:59 CST.
Up to 500 winning images will be chosen by the Civitai Community Team for inclusion in the Maintenance Mode image pool.
All image generation models are permitted. Video submissions will not be accepted.
All image styles are permitted - for inspiration check out the previous entries.
Participants are welcome to submit up to 2 images to the collection.
All images must be SFW (PG ratings) and adhere to our Terms of Service.
Inpainting and img2img are allowed.
No Photoshop (unless leveraging the AI tools, Generative Fill, etc.)
If you are using a non-local or Civitai-enabled generation tool (e.g., Midjourney), please flag your resource using the tool functionality when posting your image.
Unfair submission manipulation, multi-accounting for extra entries, or other dishonest practices, is strictly prohibited. Participants found engaging in such activities will face immediate disqualification and a permanent ban from the website.
Generation Data Requirement: All winners will be required to post their generation data to claim their prize. You can submit images without prompts and creation information for competitive reasons, but if you are selected as a winner, you must publish that information to claim your prize. This applies to any image created with AI tools, including non-Stable Diffusion models like Midjourney.
