šŸ“… September 2025 LoRA schedule & šŸ“¢ Why some of my LoRAs are ~217 MB and others ~100 MB

šŸ“… September 2025 LoRA schedule (teaser) — šŸ“¢ Why some of my LoRAs are ~217 MB and others ~100 MB (and what’s next)

🧾 TL;DR

  • I cap every training at 500 Buzz.

  • I briefly posted some ~100 MB LoRAs to see if I could keep files small + cheap and still look great.

  • Verdict (after Sensei + Discord chats): too greedy—the 100 MBs were less flexible and colors were meh on average.

  • Going forward: new releases = ~217 MB. No more 100 MB options for now.

  • Have an older ~100 MB model you love? If ≄5 people ask (or one comment gets 5 unique reactions), I’ll drop a ~217 MB upgrade.

  • Tiny teaser of next month’s lineup below—saving some surprises. šŸ˜‰

🤹 What’s going on?

  • I run every training under 500 Buzz. I wanted to see if I could make compact (~100 MB) LoRAs that were cheap to train, fast to download, and still look great.

  • I also got a little competitive after seeing some creators ship 25–50 MB models. With limited storage, tiny files sounded awesome.

  • But in practice the small builds showed limits: flatter color, less hard‑prompt capacity (edge combos like pose Ɨ outfit Ɨ lighting fail sooner), and worse stacking tolerance with complex prompts.

  • When I asked around, Discord folks basically said ā€œwhy shrink it?ā€ and my sensei reminded me: a LoRA is like a container—the more you cut the size, the less information it can carry. Small LoRAs tend to be hard‑baked to a few poses/contexts and don’t generalize as well, especially when switching base models.

  • Sensei’s take: ~217–218 MB is the sweet spot for my workflow—strong identity, better colors, and more consistent behavior across prompts and checkpoints. Also, keep it simple: one LoRA, one character, one dress beats cramming too much variation into one file.

Decision: I’m standardizing new releases at ~217 MB. The ~100 MB path is paused. I’ll still respect upgrade requests for older small posts (see policy below), but going forward I’m prioritizing consistency over compactness.

🧪 Why I tried 100 MB (a.k.a. the "snack‑size" phase)

I wanted snack‑size LoRAs: quick to download, budget friendly, still yummy. But I also wanted them to do everything—identity, outfits, lighting, play nice with other clothing LoRAs… basically I wanted a cupcake to be a wedding cake. šŸ§āž”ļøšŸŽ‚

What I saw in practice:

  • Flexibility: struggled with outfit/pose/lighting edge cases.

  • Colors: tended to be flatter or a bit off across scenes.

  • Hard‑prompt capacity: with the smaller builds I had less headroom for complex prompts; they could snap to generic outputs or require higher weights.

  • Stacking tolerance: more interference when combined with clothing LoRAs; the larger build handles mixing better.

So—fun experiment, not my default.

šŸ“ New policy (simple & shiny)

  • From now on: I’m releasing ~217 MB builds. Period.

  • No more 100 MB posts for the time being, unless if I already trained one and scheduled one in the future.

  • Why? They’re more reliable across outfits/poses and generally hold colors better for how I train.

šŸ—³ļø Have an older ~100 MB you want upgraded?

I’ve got you. Do this on that model’s page:

  1. Comment: Upgrade to 217MB please (or anything clear).

  2. If ≄5 unique users ask, I’ll ship a ~217 MB version.

  3. Or, one comment with 5 distinct reactions (different users) also triggers it.

  4. I’ll cross‑link both versions and mark the page with a ā€œ217 MB Upgrade Availableā€ badge.

šŸ™‹ Tiny FAQ (no tech lecture, promise)

ā“ Q: Is bigger always better?
šŸ’¬ A: Not automatically. For my workflow, ~217 MB behaves more consistently (identity, color, mixing) than ~100 MB in everyday use.

ā“ Q: So 100 MB is gone forever?
šŸ’¬ A: Paused, not banned. If a subject truly shines at 100 MB, I’ll say so. For now, new releases are ~217 MB only.

ā“ Q: Will you upgrade older 100 MB posts?
šŸ’¬ A: Yes—if ≄5 unique users request it on that model page or one comment gets 5 distinct reactions, I’ll publish a ~217 MB counterpart and cross-link it.

šŸ’Œ Last thing

Thanks for the feedback—it’s literally steering my ship. Drop requests, reacts, or spicy opinions; I’m listening. See you in the comments! ✨
