This is my first post, maybe my last i dont usually do this kind of thing.
The recent change to buzz and the outcry from the community are both understandable.
The service Civitai gave users is what attracted me to the site as a person interested in trying AI art. (You might want to have some filters on if you check my page, got a bit out of hand)
The nature of the site has changed a lot since then and I can understand the reasons why.
A lot of people are angry at Civitai for the recent change but it was a move they did so they could survive. The reason that we hear is that the payment processors are forcing their will on the site. It is not new news here, they have done the same to steam and Itch Io to certain games on their sites.
The reason for this so far as I can see is that the big payment processor companies are afraid to cause negative controversy to themselves. Recently by the pressure caused by activist groups like Collective Shout. Who are the ones linked to recent steam and Itch Io events and their adult games.
I don't know how much more I will use Civitai in the direction it is going since the freedom I once felt on the site is getting smaller.
So all i want to say is if you want to do something about Visa, Mastercard and Paypal are doing. You can sign petitions like this one.
You can contact your politicians and tell them about your worries that a company can do this. To maybe get the ball rolling on some type of legislation. I know this can be different from country to country and i dont know the specifics of how you can do this in each country. But if you have the option it is something you can do.
This is just my drop in the water of all of this, I just thought it might be useful to point out some options one can do instead of just being angry about the situation.
