The recent changes on the platform may drive me away in search of other options for image generation. The TLDR is that the buzz received from posting NSFW content can no longer freely be used to generate or NSFW content.
There seem to have been some technical changes to how the generator works, I don't fully understand the details of the changes don't need to in order to use the platform, that have resulted in a heavy change in style for images generated with the same setting as images generated before the change. I am upset about this change but is certainly not a deal breaker, I can easily experiment and find settings for a new style that I like. I am sure that this change was made with the improvement of the site in mind.
The more impactful change is the buzz economy. now there is a third buzz type, green, which form my understanding can only be used on civitai.green and only for PG content generation. Blue buzz is also only able to be used for PG content generation unless you have a paid membership (about $10 us a month). This seems somewhat redundant, why are there two types of buzz with similar restrictions on them. I currently am busy in other aspects of my live and cannot justify spending that amount of money on this hobby. There are also problems with the generator determining if a generation should cost blue or yellow buzz (SFW vs. NSFW), for example adding "portrait" to the prompt change the generation to require yellow buzz. Instead of the generator determining the color of buzz to be used before generation there should be a toggle for SFW and NSFW, if an image is generated in SFW mode that is NSFW the user should have too manually pay yellow buzz and be refunded their blue before seeing or posting the image. The SFW mode could still have blacklisted words for prompts to help pervert abuse of this system.
There is also no clear way of understanding the three different types of buzz, this is something that should be explained on the buzz dashboard, or at least this page needs to be updated with current information.
As I do not make models without a change to the buzz economy allowing for a free alternative to yellow buzz, I will not be able to continue to generate the same kind of content. In this updated post it was stated that "Civitai.com remains our freedom-first platform, that hasn't changed and won't change." however this change will push some creators away as now for some of them any blue buzz they get is now useless to them.
