Due to my ongoing academic commitments, I have temporarily paused all updates. Therefore, seeing this latest announcement from Civitai fills me with mixed emotions.
After all, the changes mentioned have already affected many free users, and it’s easy to conclude that, given the current turmoil in the community, the interests of paid users will also be impacted. For example, a valuable checkpoint such as Indigo Furry Mix XL may struggle to participate in the new bidding system (which now requires yellow buzz payments), and the recent changes may further reduce its buzz revenue.
(As a side note, due to regional and other restrictions, I have never been able to receive payments from this or any other platform—so I have never actually profited from my work. Profit has never been my goal; I create purely out of passion. And now I have many buzz for training online.)
At this point, it’s difficult to predict the platform’s future direction, but I would like to clearly state the following:
My updates remain paused while I continue my studies.
For those who requested LoRAs before this, I sincerely apologize—your requests will be significantly delayed. You may wish to transfer them to other creators instead.
As long as the platform still allows LoRA uploading and training, I will not terminate my updates permanently.
The platform itself is not our adversary—the real challenge lies with the payment processors and external pressures. Many platforms, such as Steam, TensorArt, and Itch.io, have already faced similar difficulties. Civitai managed to hold out for quite some time before making compromises, but many of its recent decisions are understandably controversial. Unfortunately, this compromise will not resolve the underlying issue.
