I'm bilingual and it always bothered me when I see subtitles lose some of the meaning or change the meaning completely. Of course, subtitles that are completely wrong are even worse.
I'm currently working on something and I got this idea in my head that it would be really cool to be able to translate a specific way of speaking, correctly, across multiple languages. The problem, is I don't know most of these languages. If any if you are native speakers of any of these languages:
Chinese
French
German
Japanese
Korean
Polish
Russian
Spanish
(Or any language that's supported on YouTube, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot!) It would mean a lot to me if you could help me verify the accuracy of these translations in the captions.
So the English here is archaic, and I was going for what I remember it sounding like in the Bible, and I thought since the Bible the most printed book in the world (I think), that I could use GPT to reference that fact and try to translate that sense of archaic biblical syntax over to other languages. I've been able to get the Polish one checked, and it was only off on one line (and because GPT misunderstood my intention with the English part). I put about as much effort as I think is possible for someone that doesn't speak the language to try to get it correct as possible I think 😂. So here is a sample, where I have the subtitles uploaded so you can see what I'm talking about, with the captions included:
I haven't published the entire video yet because I'm not quite done yet, and also I wouldn't want to publish it with any of the captions until I can make sure that they make sense. If you don't mind helping me, please comment with what language and I'll DM you a link to the unlisted video. I would really appreciate it, I think it would be really cool to be able to translate this feeling across all of these different languages.
I was thinking I could put the usernames in an end screen for anyone that helps with these, if you want. There isn't that much dialogue (4 lines), run time is 90 seconds. and there is text at the beginning and end. Thank you to anyone that would be willing to help me out with this 😁
