Hello all! In preparation for another bounty, I am writing about a setting. This setting has been in my mind for all my OCs already, and why I don't make images of them in modern settings.
That's because they live in Warring States, with a Twist
Here is a summary of it and the characters so far:
A sprawling fantasy world inspired by the Warring States period (roughly 475–221 BCE), where warfare, diplomacy, espionage, and philosophy collide with monsters, spirits, and the supernatural.
The land is dominated by seven major human kingdoms, each vying to unify the continent. Armies grow larger, chariots give way to infantry and crossbows, and political assassins stalk the courts. Every kingdom is a pressure cooker of intrigue: scheming ministers, wandering scholars, disgraced generals, spiritual mediums, and mercenary bands who sell their strength to the highest bidder.
Non-human peoples exist at the edges:
Tieflings from volcanic islands east of the Central States.
Elves, dwarves, and dragonborn atop mountains and cloud-sea temples.
Goliaths in the northern highlands.
Orcs in the Arctic; half-orcs along the Siberian steppe.
Halflings & kenku in western deserts.
Lizardfolk along southern coasts.
Aasimar in the ancient capital of Chu.
Half-serpent folk in wetlands and marshes.
Magic exists but is subtle: divine power flows from ancestors, spirits, or celestial events; arcane power comes from talismans, scripts, and pacts. Martial and spiritual training can produce supernatural effects, and monsters roam mountains, rivers, and ruins.
The world blends myth, politics, and brutal war, where a wandering hero can tip the scales—or be crushed beneath them.
