After three years on this platform, I am amazed by how far AI technology (and this site, better or worse) has reached. From images to full-fledged videos, I expect this technology to continue to improve.
However, I am here to declare I will be seize all operations on New Years Day.
In 2026 beyond, I will not be releasing any new models and will be permanently inactive.
I am leaving because Civitai has become increasingly restrictive, and I expect it will only get worse.
Yes, I have read the announcements. Yes, I understand these actions were taken to comply with rules to keep the platform online. From this point on, I don't see things going well.
You might be asking this question... can't you just move your stuff to another platform?
Here's my answer:
I don't believe this crackdown on content will only affect Civitai, but also other sites. Factors like Mastercard and Visa, online ID verification, and the push to make the internet more squeaky clean all make me doubt things will change in the long term.Unfortunately, I live in a place where I wouldn't be surprised if laws were passed that make it impractical for me to continue. I can only hope that more rational minds understand the trade-offs and try to do the right thing.Finally, I do have more important things to attend to in life (like paying bills). I haven't been very active this year to start. Going offline wouldn't be much of a jump.Before I end it here, I will try to release my last batch of unreleased LoRAs. I didn't release them due to quality issues or because I simply forgot to. ☜(ﾟヮﾟ☜)
Every previously uploaded model will remain up. I will not delete/archive any of them. It's the internet (nothing is ever gone on the internet), and Civitai has the best UI (in my opinion) for model pages.
TLDR. I'm leaving the platform due to increasing restrictions (and expected) on content uploaded, the global trends for censorship (where I live), and that I have other things in life to attend to.
