In the Glen district of Night City, there's a street eight buildings long with fourteen doors and two alleyways. Mixed use. Forgotten. The kind of place most people overlook. Converted workshops with apartments stacked on top, laundry lines between buildings, industrial units bolted to weathered facades.
The Burnt Toast and Coffee Café anchors one end, warm orange neon cutting through the smog. Amy works the night shift, pouring real coffee and keeping secrets. Two doors down, past unmarked entrances, The Fractured Doll unfolds like a fever dream. A burlesque cabaret wrapped in crimson light and velvet shadows.
This is where Curette dances. Beautiful, precise, devastating. A trans femme woman who commands the stage with her laser and feather performances and runs everything else with quiet authority. Most people think she owns the club. They don't know about the darkest corner, the lattice screen, the shadow that sits behind it every night.
Vargr. Trapped in werewolf form by a curse that won't break. What should make him a monster instead makes him a guardian. He is the reason corpo hunters don't come here anymore. The reason the NCPD stays away. The reason this eight building stretch can exist at all in a city built on cruelty.
Theirs is not a romance. It is something deeper. Platonic but profound. She wraps his wounds when he bleeds for their street. He sits in the darkness and ensures she never has to fear. They share coffee at 4 AM and speak in the quiet language of two broken things that chose to stay.
Together they built sanctuary. A place where trans dancers perform without fear, where the marginalized find safety, where chosen family means more than blood. Where the broken come to dance, to heal, to simply exist.
This is their street. Their club. Their family.
And they will protect it with everything they have.
