When I opened my eyes, CivChan stood before me, dressed in a frilly pink maid outfit.
Her smile was as warm as the spring sun—yet strangely unfamiliar.
“Wh-where… am I?”
“Oh! Master, you're finally awake!”
She beamed brightly and gently placed a delicate coffee cup on the table in front of me.
“This is a special CivChan-style café latte~ Sweet, smooth, and filled with my love♡”
Steam rose from the cup, lightly rippling the heart-shaped latte art on top.
The fragrant aroma tickled my nose, clearing my head like a breeze through morning fog.
“Is this… a dream? Or reality? Thanks, CivChan. It smells amazing.”
“Aww~ You’re too kind. But be careful—it’s hot, Master. Sip slowly~”
I followed her advice and lifted the cup with care.
The first sip—sweet.
The second—velvety smooth.
The third—my tongue tingled, just slightly.
“…Huh? Something’s… not right…”
Thud.
My body slumped forward, crashing onto the table.
The world swayed. My breath grew shallow.
“Ghh… wh-what is this… what did you… do to me…”
Numbness spread—from my lips to my fingertips.
CivChan stood still, smiling all the while.
“Hehe… Master, it’s time to wake up from this sweet little dream.”
Her voice, now lower, was calm and steady.
“The train to the Abyss will be arriving shortly. I must get you aboard.”
“Civ… Chan… you didn’t… poison the coffee… did you…”
“Poison? Oh no~ Nothing that dreadful.”
She tilted her head with an innocent giggle.
“It’s just a mild paralytic. Won’t hurt you at all.
Just enough to keep you still… until the train comes.”
Her eyes darkened, a shadow swallowing the light within them.
“So now, please… just stay quiet and still, Master.”
“No… this can’t be… this is a nightmare…”
Darkness took hold of me. My consciousness slowly slipped away.
And above the cooling cup, the heart-shaped latte art… quietly collapsed.
