This article is for the bounty "Put your character into our Stories" by Eiri17. I wanted to introduce this OC as a possible Supporting Character/NPC in the "World of Anima -Beyond Realities!" Let me know how you like the backstory!
Deep beneath the roots of the city, where the cold damp of the earth meets the warm hum of humanity, lies The Library Between Worlds.

It is a place of ambitious goals, lit by the flickering glow of enchanted lanterns and the soft, bioluminescent moss that clings to the mahogany shelves. Abigail, the library’s owner and sole guardian, moved through the stacks with the practiced grace of someone who had spent her entire life in the margins. With her fiery orange curls tied in vibrant green bows and her round spectacles perched precariously on her nose, she looked every bit the studious academic—yet her heart beat with the rhythm of the world below.

A Legacy of Coexistence
Abigail was a child of the Deep. While her parents were human, they had chosen to live among the monsters of the subterranean realms, fueled by a singular, radical belief: that knowledge is the ultimate bridge. They raised Abigail to see the beauty in a shadow-stalker’s poetry and the logic in a rock-troll’s philosophy.
Because she had grown up surrounded by the misunderstood denizens of the dark, Abigail found them comforting. Their grunts, clicks, and heavy footfalls were the soundtrack of her youth. Humans, however, were a different story. To Abigail, the people from "Above" were loud, unpredictable, and smelled faintly of exhaust and sunlight. Whenever the heavy brass knocker on the street-level door sounded, her pulse would quicken, and she would find herself smoothing her ruffled black skirt with trembling hands.
The Gelatinous Peacekeepers
Maintaining order in a building that served both hungry scholars and literal monsters required more than just "Quiet Please" signs. To assist her, Abigail had two loyal slime companions who acted as the library’s heartbeat and muscle.
* Jelly-ton: A vibrant, bubblegum-pink slime with a firm, bouncy gait. He was the diplomat of the lobby. When a human grew too rowdy or a monster’s growl became too guttural, Jelly-ton would slide over with a cheerful squelch, acting as a soft, sticky barrier until tempers cooled.

* Goober: A lime-green, wobbling mass who preferred the rafters to the floor. Goober was the sentinel of the Restricted Section. He guarded the heavy iron doors that held the most exclusive, dangerous tomes—books that whispered in dead languages or dripped ink like blood. If an unauthorized hand reached for a forbidden spine, Goober would drop from the ceiling with a wet splat, effectively grounding the intruder in a harmless, gooey mess.

A Sanctuary of Shadows and Light
The Library Between Two Worlds functioned as a neutral "safe zone." In the central reading room, a truce as old as the foundations themselves held sway.
Under the watchful eyes of Abigail and her slimes, the impossible became mundane. A human medical student might sit at a long oak table, frantically scribbling notes on anatomy, while directly across from them, a multi-eyed lurking horror studied a map of the stars. They would share the same inkwell, neither acknowledging the other’s presence, bound by the sacred law of the stacks.
Abigail often watched these moments from behind her desk, her nervousness warring with a quiet sense of pride. She remembered her parents' voices, telling her that fear is just a lack of information.

Unfortunately, very few humans show up to the library, most likely due to the fact that it shares the same space as the creatures from below. Even though Abigail prefers the company of monsters, she would like to get over her anxiety of meeting and greeting humans. She wants to teach the world that monsters are not as bad as they seem.

Additional info about Abigail:

(Some concept art of Abigail ⬆️)
She is usually soft spoken, kind, cheerful, and helpful.

Abigail gets nervous around humans due to little exposure to the people above ground. She still is nice as can be with humans, but may have less patience with them.

Most creatures of the underground do not frighten Abigail. She has been around them all of her life, and has grown up with them. Most underground creatures also respect Abigail too, and consider her one of them.

On her spare time, she loves reading many of the books in the library. She mostly loves reading the books on the monsters side of the library. I'm her alone time, she reads monster romance novels.

Hope you like this character!! Let me know if you would like to see some stories staring Abigail!
