Hey lovelies~! 🌸
Hi Civit Officials,
The past week on Civit has been rough. Period. And I think we all felt that.
There were the technical issues - and no, these are not just "minor inconveniences." When core features like image streams stop working, it doesn’t just reduce comfort, it takes away the fun of the platform. Civit lives from its dynamic: scrolling, discovering, reacting, that constant feeling that something new is happening. When that flow breaks, it’s not cosmetic - it hits the core of what the platform is. And at some point you stop thinking "okay, a bit glitchy right now" and start wondering: Why does this not feel alive anymore?
And then there’s communication - or rather, the lack of it. A lot of things happen on Discord, which is fine in itself. But part of the community simply isn’t active there. When important information only shows up on Discord, people get left out. And that’s exactly what’s happening right now.
The whole crypto and Buzz topic was, for me personally, a bitter pill at first. I didn’t really want it. In the end, I still went along with it - not because I was convinced, but because I want to buy Buzz to support creators. And I don’t think I’m alone in that. Which makes it even more important that this is communicated clearly and transparently. Instead, a lot of it felt indirect, scattered, or shared in the wrong places.
And then Australia. Law or not - I find it hard to believe that this decision was only known 24 hours in advance. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. But that’s exactly the issue: when communication is missing, the community fills in the gaps. And what comes out of that isn’t great - frustration, uncertainty, doubt, and mistrust. Especially considering that some people had just topped up their Buzz, even via crypto. Yes, there are ways to still access the platform. But that’s not the point. The point is how this was handled.
You can’t keep hiding behind "we are a small team" when it comes to communication. This is not a side topic - this is central.
So this goes directly to theAlly and the entire Civit team:
Treat us like what we are - not just users or traffic, but people who actively support and shape this platform. Be transparent. Use your own platform to communicate, not just external channels. Communicate early, even if things aren’t perfect yet. And most importantly: communicate at all.
Because otherwise, this is what happens: people get frustrated and uncertain, some are already thinking about leaving or have left, official statements are questioned, and decisions start to feel like something you can’t trust anymore. That’s not a good place to be - for anyone.
If you’re unsure how to write proper statements, get help. Seriously. Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude can help you structure and phrase things clearly. This isn’t about perfect PR. It’s about honest communication.
Because bad communication isn’t the real problem.
No communication is.
And I’m not saying this out of anger. I’m saying this because I care about this platform. Because I care about the people here. Because I see what we’ve built together.
So please… talk to us. 💔
