I started to test and use GROK a month or so back. I went into GROK open minded, because I didn't live through the sudden UNDISCLOSED changes, like the restriction of NSFW content, you can read about everywhere.
Since GROK was easy to setup and use, and the free subscription give you access to Imagine with 480P 6 sec video creation and also limited picture creation, I was happy! I seriously thought about getting a month of paid sub to test even further with 720p and 10 sec video...
I was still testing around the capabilitys of the site, when it hit me yesterday. After logging in and starting to generate a video 480p 6sec like allways, promptly a popup came up (that is also the Cover Image). First I thought it is just an add, but then, after reading the message, I became clear of its message. It announced to me that I need to choose either a 10$ sub or a 30$ sub to continue.
I thought nice, finally they give you the option to generate 720P 10sec for 10$ and a new type of sub. is available for 30$... So I thought....
As I write this now Xai canceled every Imagine option for the free users they where farming in the year/month prior and now want to bait all into a sub. based model.
To write it nicely, with such abrupt, sudden, inconsistent and ununderstandable changes, Xai can keep their AI service for themselves for now! I hope they find back to the community and besides their 30$ restricted option there will be a NSFW option again, that isn't as restricted as the whole thing is right now.
Also I really hate all the positive critics and news from the past days. They are selling the new "cheap" model as a "good entry" and don't even know that all those sevices where actually FREE before.
