These past few days, I accidentally enabled draft mode in my generations. Thinking the generator had suddenly become worse, I kept desperately re-generating images I liked to compare the results and see if the difference was real or just in my head.
That’s when I noticed something interesting. For months—if not longer—I had been trying to achieve a kind of pointillism or fine grain effect to add texture to solid colors, with little success. I tried different checkpoints, LoRAs, tags, and even trained my own LoRAs and checkpoints with that goal in mind. Those familiar with my work might remember my genius (pointillism) and whimsical styles.
And suddenly the following appeared in my generator:

And it turns out all I had to do was simply lower the quality using draft mode. That alone would have saved me an absurd amount of buzz. Below are the comparisons.

It would be ridiculous to even try to calculate how much buzz I’ve spent chasing that effect…
