Words or woofs cannot express how displeased, upset, bothered, and fluffed off that I feel at the continuous misapplication of "movie rating" ratings towards the images we make.
First, I am NOT upset at Civitai. To be mad at them when they did not create the software that is used to do the ratings is like being mad at the person who installs your carpet for the bad job the roofer did on your home's roof. How can you be mad at one individual when it was entirely someone else's fault?
You cannot. And if you are, you need to go march yourself to timeout and drink a beer or some wine or a cup of coffee or something and think who really is at fault. (pssst, this is your excuse to get an extra helping of one of those guilt free...Just say Render said I could.)
But, this does not take away the fact that I am upset, and I believe many others are too.
Second, you will notice that I use non offensive non vulgar phraseology in this article. I use it so that it does not get slapped with a you are banned or heaven forbid a 100X rating or something. It already seems to happen to many of my images...so I figure, who knows, may this article is next.
At the end of the day, again, it's just a dumb image on a website that only 1% of the people on Civitai will even see. But it's the continuousness of it that makes it so aggravating.
Good or bad, Civitai keeps changing the rules, the TOS, and even how they enforce them. That is fine. Their website, their rules. But for Fluffenutter's sake is it irritating.
I have not been here nearly as long as most of you. This June will be one year. But in that time I see the ratings system not being equally applied. There are some that it feels like they are getting away with image ratings murder and nothing is done about it.
When I first joined the site made some images, got better at creating them, I looked long and hard at the ratings system. Here it is for your reference.
I made some images that I knew were very clearly PG-13. Its obvious. It was considered sexy clothes, a semi-provocative pose, and some cleavage (don't judge, I was in my imitation phase). Instead of the PG-13 rating they are clearly shown as and even defined by what we see, I got image slapped with some rated X and rated R.
So I did what all Civitain's would do. I clicked the crap out of the little icon that had the rating and selected the correct rating 5-10 times to get the attention of someone that can do something about it. Instead many of the R ratings stayed and the X rated was downgraded to a R.
Ok fine, so what you might say? What is the big deal?
You're right, it's not the end of the world. But when you turn around a day later and see someone getting a face-full of something that causes 9-month bumps to form, and they have a rating of PG-13 or rated R, it seems mildly reasonable to be bothered by it. So I clicked the crap out of their rating to try to give it a G rating. I mean why not at this point. The whole rating world seemed to be upside down. 😒🙃🙄
But...there is no G rating apparently. The closest we now have is some green buzz...🙄 with a strictly PG rating. If you create that PG image and then have a rating slapped on it that clearly does not apply...smh....
This is not a dig against those who create or post more...18+ style images and videos and articles. To The contrary, some of what they do is incredibly well done. Not my thing...but I can recognize when someone creates something that has incredible quality and had to have taken a long time to make.
What this is, is frustration at the incompetence and inconsistency of the system with our having very little control or ability or direction on getting it fixed.
It would be different if this was a one time thing, or even inconsistent. But when it happens over and over again, and Civitai keeps making such a big deal over how you can earn Blue, Green, and Yellow buzz, and who can see what and when, it all just builds up.
Even today, Wednesday April 8th, 2026...I created a series of 20 images. All were of landscapes. 10 are published, 10 are sitting there in draft mode until I feel like posting them. but of those 20 and all are actually rated G, but in this case PG, I had a number of them slapped with PG-13 signifying that they have Revealing clothing, small bulges, subtle nipple outline, posing/sexualized bare chested men, light gore, or violence to them.
IT'S A LANDSCAPE...One had a storm, the rest small animals with a landscape. What ruffles the fur is that there is nothing even remotely close to what the PG-13 rating outlines in those images.
Please observe...But be forewarned, I do not want anyone's sensitive eyes or morals to be offended by these horrific ratings...
Oh...and only look at them with one eye open and peak....Shhhh...some are not posted yet....

No. More miffed and heavily irritated to be honest.
But does anyone else here find this kind of stuff irritating?
It's like having Fluffenutter rubbed into your hair or fur (sorry did not want to leave out the furries). If you are asking what Fluffenutter is, my god do I feel sorry for you if you do not know. It is seriously some of the worst food you could eat health wise, but my god does it taste heavenly with some peanut butter on a sandwich. And Grilled...🤤 But that is for a whole different article.
At the end of the day, I recognize that there is nothing I can really do to fix this, I will go home, I will spend time with the family, I will forget about this tomorrow. Maybe even the day after until it happens again.
If nothing else comes of this, at least someone who did not know what Fluffenutter is will look it up, drive to the store, buy some, develop health issues, and then thank me later...I know...so worth it. 😉🙂
