Likes and Downloads...
Hi! I wanted to share something I think is important: how powerful it is to encourage people.
After many days of being down, CivitAI is finally showing model data again, including the number of downloads, likes, etc.
I received a notification that one of my models had surpassed 500 downloads, and I thought, "Wow!" When I checked the model's page, it was even higher, close to 700. Then I looked at other models, and during these days of "information blackout," almost all of them had seen a significant increase in this metric.
Then I noticed that another metric, Likes, hadn't increased much... and that, in general, the percentage of Likes relative to downloads is relatively low.
Do people download the model and then not like it? Or do people download the model and not bother to let the creator know that they like it and will use it?
I don't know.
If I trust these percentages, less than 10% of those who try my models find them even remotely interesting? That's something to think about, honestly. And not for the better.
But the truth is, if you like those models you download for free, remember that they're made by creators who, if they stop believing in their work (because they don't get feedback on it), might not continue making it or at least stop sharing it.
Giving a Like only takes a mouse click, nothing more. Please think about whether what you've downloaded and enjoyed is worth the "effort" of a "Like" click. And about everything it might mean to the person who provided it.
It's a request, not a demand, of course.
Enjoy!
P.S.: I suppose those who struggle with a simple click are even less likely to read this, but I had to try LOL
I've changed the article's image to one that's more appropriate :P
