Civitai Comics: Tell Your Story, Page by Page

TL;DR: Civitai Comics is live in beta. Browse comics the community is building, or roll your own - generate covers, plan whole chapters from a story prompt, iterate panels with annotations and speech bubbles, and reuse characters, locations, items, and styles across every page.

Why we're doing this

For a long time, AI could make one stunning image and choke on the next one. Same character? Different face. Same world? Different lighting. Without fine-tuning, consistency was hard. Edit models finally cracked that open. Not perfectly, but well enough that telling a real story across panels stopped being a pipe dream.

This started as a hackathon three months ago. We got hooked on the idea and kept building. Still rough around the edges, still a beta, but we're too excited about where it's going to keep sitting on it. The fastest way to make it great is to put it in your hands and watch what you build.

How it works

Step 1. Spin up a project at /comics/create. Give it a name, a genre, a cover. Drop in your references, characters, locations, items, styles. Anything you want to stay consistent across pages goes here. We've made it really easy to iterate within the generator and then pull anything you've made as a reference.

Step 2. Build a chapter. Either use Smart Create - type a story, pick a panel count, let it plan the page - or build panel by panel. Pick the model you want per panel: Nano Banana, Flux.2, Seedream, Qwen, Grok, OpenAI's image model, take your pick.

Step 3. Iterate. Open any panel in the editor, mark it up, paste in another image, drop a speech bubble and say what you want it to say, @mention a reference to keep your character consistent. Publish the chapter when it's ready, or schedule it, or gate it behind Early Access for your fans.

What's in the box

  • Smart Create - describe a story, get a chapter back. Tweak the panel prompts before you generate.

  • Iterative editor - annotate, mark up, paste reference images, drop speech bubbles with custom text. Image-to-image with intent.

  • References - Characters, Locations, Items, Styles. Build them once, @-mention them anywhere.

  • Seven image models - Nano Banana, Flux.2, Seedream v4.5, Seedream 5 Lite, OpenAI GPT-Image, Qwen, Grok Imagine. Pick per panel.

  • Cover + hero image generation - make a cover that matches your comic's vibe without leaving the editor.

  • Layouts - pick a page layout, an aspect ratio, set the hero panel's focus.

  • Publish your way - go live now, schedule it, or run an Early Access window where fans pay Buzz to read early.

  • Export - pull a chapter down as a PDF or the standard CBZ (Comic Book Archive) format.

  • Browse + follow - read what the community is making, sort by newest, most-followed, or most chapters, follow the creators you like.

Where to find it

Got extra Green Buzz floating around? This is a great place to spend it.

Heads up - it's beta

A few panels won't land. Some things might get rated wrong (we're working on that). A few features will move under your feet. We're shipping fixes and improvements daily for the next few weeks. If something breaks or behaves weird, tell us, that's the whole point of putting this out now.

Thank you

Three months of late nights from the team to get this in front of you. Thank you for being the kind of community where we can ship a beta this ambitious and trust you'll meet it where it is.

Now go make a comic. Tell a story. Show us your world.

PS I already know some of you are going to say, "Why are you releasing new stuff when the site is still broken?!!! 😡". We're still working on it, and this week we're slated to make a few of the biggest moves that will hopefully solve the source of a lot of the complaints. We've just got too many things that I'm excited to share with you all, so I didn't want to wait any more.
