Hi everyone! Technically I did manage to meet my Friday release schedule for my song on my YouTube channel, by my time zone anyway, but it was very close and this article is later. Without going into unimportant details, there were unexpected issues with the translation, and I thought I was ready Thursday, but then I wasn't, and I had a bit of an ADHD obsession/panic spiral trying to rush it through anyway while hating myself for neglecting more important things I was supposed to be doing now that it was too late anyway and... At any rate, here it is:
I originally envisioned a girl who was childhood friends with a boy, and had started wanting to be more, but he moved away. When his letter arrives that he's coming back to town, with the implication is that he's been missing her just as she missed him, the girl feels joy that she can let go of a sentimental past and embrace a bright future together with him. "And all that I have missed shall rest easy, when you stand in the doorway and smile at me."
My friend @Wolf_Knight, however, heard this as a song about a woman whose husband was away at sea and sent word his ship is coming back in after a long voyage, a very classic Norwegian theme.
In the end, the song is ambiguous enough it could be either meaning, or something else besides. I have tried to preserve that ambiguity as much as possible, both so it can be heard and speak to anyone who wants to hear it their own way, and because a poetic vagueness is popular in Norwegian melody. The civit radio announcement was... a surprise. I was excited for a moment, but really, just completely randomly generated whatever on an endless loop? I write my lyrics with a lot of care... Last week with enough care it ended up biting me in the @**, no less, and I work really hard getting the right tone and instrumentation. Most songs take at least a dozen tries before one is really truly worthy, and last week, heck, at least sixty. Just any old thing generated completely randomly is either lazy... or makes me a fool for trying so hard! I guess time will tell.
I also just hit the 500+ followers milestone! Hurray!! Thank you all so much!!! I feel like that took forever, this time, new followers have really slowed down recently, though I see many of my friends still gaining them quickly. I guess I need to post more often! Though, about that...
With the song issues, and personal stuff, last week ended up kind of a nightmare. I'm going to be really busy now catching up on some other things. If anyone saw my post on ADHD struggles... that was me on Thursday night, LOL. I have a lora for a friend that's drastically overdue (I'm sorry @Eiri17!!) but I also wanted to announce a big surprise... I made a new style LoRA which I will release here soon!!
I'm going to be light on details right now, hopefully it will be out this week and maybe some of you will try it then. I've been doing a lot of re-training and testing it while not being active here, and I'm finally almost ready to publish!
