Hi everyone! Ready for the weekend? (Or for many of my friends in another time zone already there, how is it?) This week had a lot going on for me online and IRL, I wasn't sure I could have this polished and ready in time, but I just squeezed under the wire completing the video and subtitle timing late last night and writing this today just before posting it. Yeah, it would be smart to have these finished well ahead of time... but those following these from earlier know why I ended up holding back the finished second album and scrambling to meet weekly new creation deadlines while working on a third album. That one is about half-finished, and hopefully I can get it done before finishing the romances- I'm excited but nervous about it!
This week's song is in German! Experimenting with different languages for the romances to use their unique lyrical voices to tell varied stories has been really a lot of fun, each one is an adventure of its own. For this one, I was inspired by the rich dept of Germanic folklore and the indie folk bands that use fairytale themes and traditional instruments alongside powerful, haunting vocals to weave absolutely haunting tunes, like Skald, Trobar De Morte, and of course Faun... The song is about a girl who is picking mushrooms in the forest, and meets a beautiful, mysterious stranger. They dance, play, and laugh through the day, and when twilight falls, he gives her a blue rose with a promise to see her again. Back at the village, the people insist she never met the stranger- they saw her alone in the forest, dancing with only the butterflies and sunbeams. But if the man wasn't real... where did the blue rose come from? Did she really meet the stranger, or was he some symbolic awakening of her awareness of dreams and magic? The blue rose which never withers throughout the coming years is her answer.
The blue rose has a long history as a symbol of the unattainable- impossible beauty, fragile magic, the metaphysical, and immortality. Perhaps what the girl really found was one of those things, or all of them. The girl who meets an Elf or Fairy and becomes enchanted is a very classic theme with many great versions already told, this is simply my own telling of it, and I hope you enjoy it.

English is also in the German subtitles (underneath, in parenthesis like this, so you get a line-by-line translation in time with the singing). I do still sometimes have people asking where the subtitles are despite saying that... So I'll add them at the end here, too.
