Okay, right away: I am not about clickbait or getting the most views. This isn't about that.
What I want to talk about here is how to format your article text so that people using Light Mode or Dark Mode don't have to switch themes or highlight your text just to see what you're saying.
Super easy mode: Just don't color your text. Let the system take care of everything for you.
Yes, it really is that easy! Hahaha, forget that.
Let's assume that we all like to emphasize our words with pretty colors. That's cool. There's nothing wrong with that. The problem comes about when we pick colors that don't work with one of the site themes. Maybe instead of boring old black and white, we really like DarkSlateGray or WhiteSmoke.
Except... You probably had to highlight one of those last two color names, didn't you? One is nearly invisible in Light Mode, and the other presents the same problem in Dark Mode.
Some people won't mind that. Some people are really interested in what you have to say, and will highlight text or change their site theme just to hear you out. Other people will see pale yellow on white or dark gray on black and immediately close the tab without reading what you wrote. This isn't a judgment on them or on you. We all have our preferences, and that's fine.
But if you want more people to read your article, why not think a little more about your color choices? Your reader has already clicked on your link. They're at least a little interested. Why risk driving readers away over something so trivial? We can have our colorful text and still minimize reader frustration.
Unfortunately, even some of the colors in Civitai's default palette have problems in one theme or the other. Bold can help, especially in light mode, but some colors just won't work well with one theme or the other.
Maybe at some point in the future, we'll see a palette that maps to different colors depending on each user's display theme. I think that would be pretty rad. For now though, what I recommend is to hit the button in the sidebar that swaps your site theme and make sure that your text is still readable. You want more people to read your article, right?
