Creator Compensation Stays: Updates After Your Feedback

TL;DR: We heard you, and we're making changes. The base compensation you earn when people generate with your models is NOT going away - it stays for every creator, member or not. Licensing fees and paid access are becoming opt-in tools everyone can use, with limits that scale by membership tier. A licensing fee replaces your base share on a model only if you choose to set one, and it's fully reversible - remove it and you're right back to base compensation. Paid access is a separate way to earn. If you never change a thing, nothing about how you earn today changes.

First, thank you

Last night we posted the Creator Economy Update, and in that same post we said we were still figuring things out and would do right by you. You gave us a lot of feedback, fast and direct, and we read all of it. This is us following through.

The big one: base compensation stays

We are not retiring the base generation compensation. Every creator keeps earning it when their models are used, whether or not they pay for a membership. Generator tips stay too, and flow through exactly as they do today.

To be direct: the August 31 cutover we announced last night is cancelled. Nothing retires on that date, or any date. If you saw that post and thought your models would stop earning after August 31, that is not happening - you don't need to delete or change anything.

If you do nothing, nothing changes. Your models keep earning the way they do right now.

Licensing fees, now for everyone

Setting a licensing fee becomes an opt-in choice available to every creator, not just Creator Program members.

  • If you set a fee on a model, you earn that fee instead of your share of the base compensation and tips on that model. If you'd rather leave things as they are, don't set one.

  • Free creators can set fees too, up to a cap. The most you can charge scales up with your membership tier, so higher tiers can charge more.

This gives everyone the ability to start taking direct control of what their work earns, and to grow into higher limits as their models find an audience.

Timed early access works exactly as it does today - nothing there changes. What's changing is permanent, no-time-cap access: it opens up to everyone, and instead of limiting how many models you can put up for sale by tier, we're capping how much you can charge, scaled by tier. (Free accounts may still have a limit on how many models they can list at once - we're finalizing that.)

The important part: if your membership ever lapses, your prices simply drop to the free-tier cap. Your models never become free or public against your will - you keep your whole catalogue, at a lower price, until you renew.

A few more things you asked for

  • Spend buzz toward membership perks. You'll be able to put buzz you've already earned toward a membership's perks. (This unlocks the perks, not the monthly buzz a paid membership includes.) It routes around the payment barriers a lot of you run into.

  • See your earnings, member or not. Your earnings and analytics in the Creator Studio are opening up to everyone, since every creator earns compensation and tips - not just program members. (Seeing your earnings is open to all; cashing them out still runs through the Creator Program.)

  • Creator Shops for everyone, and a place to browse them (coming soon). We're opening shops beyond the Creator Program, and building a hub to browse all of the community's cosmetics in one place. Both are on the way.

And to answer the obvious question: what's a membership still for? It's now the way to earn more, not the gate on earning at all. Membership unlocks higher fee and price caps, buzz banking and payouts, and the higher tiers.

Timing

There's nothing you need to do about your base compensation. It's staying, full stop. The new tools - everyone setting fees and paid access with tiered caps, plus the open earnings tab - are rolling out over the coming days. We'll post again when they're live so you can start using them.

Common questions

If I set a licensing fee and later remove it, does my model go back to earning base compensation?
Yes. Licensing fees are opt-in and fully reversible. Set one and you earn the fee instead of your base-comp share on that model; remove it and that model goes right back to earning base compensation and generator tips, exactly like before. Nothing is locked in.

Thank you, again

Your feedback was fast and direct, and it made this plan better. That's the conversation we want to keep having. We're a business and we have to keep the lights on, but not at the cost of the people who make this place what it is. Keep the feedback coming.
