Midjourney 6 showcases exceptional prowess in crafting photorealistic images in its latest version. It is comparable to SDXL's photorealistic models. However, Midjourney appears less adept when it comes to rendering cartoon characters, such as 'The Pink Panther.' This limitation likely stems from its intensive focus on realism. In contrast, DALL-E 3 emerges as a frontrunner for creating vivid and accurate cartoon characters, displaying versatility in various artistic styles. While Midjourney leads in certain areas, its cost factor stands out, especially when juxtaposed with the freely available DALL-E 3 and StableDiffusion SDXL 1.0.
The flexibility and free nature of StableDiffusion remain unmatched by the newest release of Midjourney. Yes, setting up SDXL is a bit more complex, but with the addition of Fooocus and AUTOMATIC1111, things are rapidly changing in favor of open-source software.
