Controlling the thousand-yard stare

If you go to images and sort by new. You will be greeted with many emotionless people looking straight into oblivion. With XL becoming more popular we get slightly more emotion in the images without prompting emotions, but why stop there?

Emotions, facial movement and random things about face... Something people forget to prompt. I do that too, lazy prompting with no emotion in the image.

The idea of this article is to make you think more about the face, emotion and what you want to convey with the image. I will give several examples on different categories and showcase. Rest is up to you.

Lets dive into emotions of PD . The model i will be using is AutismMix_confetti . Fantastic thing about PD models is you can prompt in natural language, e621 tags, booru tags and derpibooru tags. It gives you wide range of possibilities you can do with it.

How to find usable tags? You can use extension for tag autofill or look tags from tag lists of:

Danbooru

E621

Derpibooru

How to search certain tags? For example if you want to search for all tags with mouth, you would search it like

*mouth*

THE RESULTS MAY DIFFER WITH DIFFERENT MODELS, COMPREHENSION OF DIFFERENT BOORU TAGS MAY DIFFER BETWEEN MODELS/LORA'S.

The difference

First i am going to show you the difference it makes to have some emotion in image

Looking

Looking tags mainly change the target of the gaze, head will have movement depending on the direction.

Eyes

Eye tags are pretty basic, closed, open, narrowed etc.. Some of the eye tags give more emotion to whole face than others. If you use something like angry eyes, sad eyes it most likely will affect the whole face and can give all the emotion you need in your face.

Why stop at basic? We can combine them.

Eyebrows

You can control eyebrows too, but usually it comes naturally with other tags. Not going to spend more time on this.

Mouth

Mouth tags are pretty basic too open, close, wide, etc... You can also insert some stuff in mouth like... food.

Emotions

Using emotions is the easiest way to get desired face, but can affect the other parts of the image other than face. For some emotions there are specific tags for face and eyes in e621. For example angry has also tag angry eyes, angry face and angry expression.
