I write this based on this news published by a prolific creator of this community that I follow. Needless to say, I agree with Mr. Monster.
Today we have a sad day.
Yes, I know that I am one of the creators who has focused a lot on erotic content, but I always hoped that more value would be placed on the search for quality images than on trying to use models to simply satisfy the most extreme fantasies of some people (something that on the other hand is fine and everyone has the right to do it in your privacy) but there are people who literally turned every published gallery into a porn page.
I know it's too late to cry, but I feel like we're all partly to blame, as this content is available to anyone with the flip of a switch and the current content rating system only complicates things rather than helping. So where do we draw that line?
For my part, I have been stopping publishing total nudes in my galleries, and now I will definitely do so. Additionally (even if it costs me points and a lower ranking) I will begin deleting content and moderating what is uploaded to my galleries. If someone wants to see more extreme content, then they have the option to go to the sponsorship sites that some creators like me have, and subscribe or commission whatever they want, but I think CivitAi's main goal has never been to become a big porn site.
UPDATE:
After analyzing this whole rating issue more closely, I have come to consider that it is a tool that, used well, will help a lot to improve the navigability of the site. But I think that the problem of porn will continue to persist and (I say this even though it generates some bad faces) perhaps the problem is not that there will always be people creating porn, but that the problem is that many give it away irresponsibly. . . and no, porn (at least the hardcore one) should not be free, at least it should not be on a site where young creatives have their first encounter with the world of AI-assisted art. Civitai is doing its job well as administrators, the task of being more responsible with what we share is now ours.
