Here are some simple templates in case you dont want to set stuff up and simply want to dive in and start generating.
You use these templates by clicking the "remix" button.
Pony (don't let the name fool you!)
In general I use Pony checkpoints which is mostly used for anime style, but realistic ones are starting to pop up as well, it uses tags found on "booru" sites (such as danbooru), you can find a list of them here.
For pony you want to keep the "score_9, score_8_up, score_7_up, score_6_up, score_5_up, BREAK" part in the prompt (see here if you need to know why).
All pony models are build around Pony Diffusion V6 XL, it has some tags that helps defining what kind of image you want:

On-site generation checkpoints I can recommend:

The realistic ones has become pretty great! Here's a template and some good checkpoints:

SD XL
Realistic template
XL is usually used for generating realistic images, but be warned, since you dont have access to something called "hi-res fix" while generating here on civitai, it is quite common that eyes or hands can get deform (unless its a close-up portrait, then its usually fine) so in my opinion, if you're using civitai, only use it for portraits of people.
Anime template
There are anime checkpoints as well, I haven't used them that much but some of the ones that seems pretty good (imo) are:
SD 1.5
Since 1.5 is, in the world of AI, quite old, it can be a bit tricky to work with, but a really nice thing is that it costs very little "buzz" to use it, so it's great for new users.
Realistic template
The thing I've mostly used it for is realistic nsfw images, here's a template inspired by the user "xiaoxiaohuiji"
Checkpoints I can recommend for realistic images are:

SD 1.5 is pretty decent at anime as well, but imo XL and Pony are just so much better.
I've not used these that much but try out these checkpoints:
