hi there dear Civitans and fellow generators,
I think it´s time for an update and a little feedback ... So maybe you can spare a couple of minutes
in case you missed the original article about the "Outstanding Ai-Art-Collection" here it is: https://civitai.com/articles/6417/the-outstanding-ai-art-collection-help-me-with-your-support
First of all I would like to thank you all for your overwhelming support for the collection. The collection has now incredible 434 (!) followers and is growing each day. I try to upload images regularly (usually twice a day) and the collection features now more than 2.7 K images ... so plenty stuff to get inspired 😉. Many of the images receive dozens and even up to a couple of hundred reactions! This is just mind blowing! Thanks a lot for your constant support ❤️. And a few of you got really lucky and got their collection images also featured in the official daily features which gave them an even bigger boost! Congratulations on that!
Now, that I´m looking at a couple thousand of images each day I would like to address some tips and suggestions. This is just a friendly advice which of course you don´t have to follow blindly. I´ve been around here for over a year now (on a daily basis) and I´ve experienced many ups and downs during that period and I just want to share some thoughts which might help you level up your "ai-art-game" a bit. So maybe you can spare a couple of minutes to read what I have to say and think about it.
React to your own images first! ... Who is and will always be your biggest fan? ... well, that is obviously you of course, so there is nothing wrong with reacting to your own images (and by that I mean the 👍 and the ❤️ heart reaction ... the other two, ... well you decide). This has also another vital side effect. If you don´t react to your own images, your images remain literally invisible until someone does. Usually people browse their "followed" feed by "daily" and "most reactions". So your images stay invisible to them even if they are following you until somebody reacts to them! The earlier you get a reaction the sooner your images become visible to others and start getting more reactions.
DONT SPAM! You are harming yourself! Nobody loves spam. Don´t forget, most people are here to post their own stuff. It doesn´t matter how good your images are and even if they are completely different ... no one is interested in or has the time to look at dozens or even hundreds of your images each day (besides me of course 🤪😅)! And there is one thing which is even worse, though ... that is mass posting of images which are almost identical. Save them on your hard drive but please don´t share them with us!
Think a little about it ... when was the last time when you reacted to all 124 images of your favorite artist he posted the other day? And did you leave a comment on each one of them? ... So if you post lets say 2-5 good images a day you will have a high chance that all five get a reaction, if you post 20, people will probably still react to 2-5 images, you are literally forcing them to choose ... and if you post 100 images, ... well you are lucky if they react to any at all and they might even unfollow you because you are drowning their "followed" feed with your images. Please, do yourself a favor and post a reasonable amount of images. Posting 6-10 images a day is absolutely sufficient ... and I know it can be really hard to choose the right ones to post because they are all so so so good ... 😜! ... yes, but some are still better than others. Train your eyes and choose those who are almost flawless! Generate 1000 images a day, but post only 10 and not 200! Trust me, I also had to learn that lesson ...
Be inspired, be creative and if possible don´t copy ... I know, there are countless opinions and takes on that topic. And I´m not in a position to judge anybody. It´s ok to try out some prompts when you are starting with image generation. If you like an image you see and want to make a similar one by using another checkpoint, different loras etc. or alter a bit the phrasing of the prompt. Do it ! Try everything out. That is absolutely alright. We all start at some point. But leave a like, a nice comment or do it like OrlandoOrso who links to the original poster! Follow his example and be respectful. This isn´t some kind of prompt buffet. Yes, some of the tools we all use are open source, but prompts ain´t.
Try to avoid posting in landscape format (at least the very broad formats). Unfortunately this format get´s significantly less views. Civitai has still done nothing much to increase the visibility of this format while browsing in thumbs view. The solution could be as easy as using two vertical thumbnail placeholders for one horizontal thumbnail ... 😉
And finally ... if you have any suggestions regarding the collection, some feedback regarding your experience with the collection or if you know somebody who should be featured in the collection ... and even if that somebody might be you ... please feel free to leave a comment below or send me a note via chat.
