More than Just Creepy: Strange, Scary, and Creepy One Month In

A month ago, I published an article thanking the first hundred followers of my collection Strange, Scary, and Creepy. Since then, I’ve been trying to carve out some time to add your (and of course, my 8)) creations to the collection. Due to personal circumstances, I can’t devote as much time as I originally did, and many great works may go unnoticed by me. But I’m trying and will continue to do my best as time allows.

Progress update:

  • 230+ followers – I’ll admit, I expected the growth rate to hold steady, but it’s starting to slow, which is only natural. However, one image in Featured Images brought in over 500 followers. Perhaps some people just don’t know you can follow collections (there’s a "+ Follow" button in the top right corner of the collection page).

  • 2.2k images – Now, I’m a bit more selective, trying to choose fresh and original works that spark the imagination. I also avoid overlapping with other collections to keep mine unique and give a broader range of works a place to shine. Therefore, images already added to Outstanding AI-Art are replaced with alternatives… or not. 8) As for Castr0’s comments, I don’t see them, and tracking them from another account is just extra work I’m not willing to spend time on.

Acknowledgements

Thank you to everyone who has followed and continues to follow. A big thank you to everyone who supports works with reactions. A huge thanks to those who donate Buzz. And a hugest thank to those who share the collection link in their profiles.

Image selection criteria

Not much has changed since last time.

  • Presence of metadata, specifically a prompt.

  • The image must have been published within the last 24 hours, although there are exceptions.

  • I need to be able to see your works.

  • The work must be aesthetically fitting for the collection (though this is very subjective… really, very subjective 8)).

A message to the community

Recommend works, yours and others’. You can simply tag me in the comments. Over the past month, I’ve received only four recommendations—I was worried I’d get flooded with messages. So don’t be shy. 8)

To those who don’t publish metadata

There could be various reasons.

  1. “I don’t want to disclose details of my work” – Fair enough, that’s your choice. But your images will likely get less visibility, as many use metadata filters.

  2. “I edit the image in Photoshop” – Just add the prompt manually when publishing, even if the image can’t be perfectly replicated.

  3. “I use ComfyUI, but Civit can’t read the data correctly” – Manually add the prompt or use a node like comfy-image-saver.

I see plenty of great works that I’d love to add, but in addition to the aesthetic pleasure, it would be great to also have some practical value.

To those who publish tons of images (50+ a day)

There are two types of such authors: the “Spam Cannon” and the “Art Repeat Offender.” 8) The first type likely won’t care about my suggestions, and probably won’t even see this. So I’m addressing the second type. Lots of good images are not a problem, but masterpieces get lost in a sea of good images. If you take some time to self-curate and weed out 4 out of every 5 images, the effect will be stronger.

Conclusion

That’s all I wanted to say. And of course, love people, spread kindness, and may the horrors stay in our imagination and the Strange, Scary, and Creepy collection.

PS: Should I change the title? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
