The Order of the Drowned Martyr are a penitent offshoot of the Order of the Argent Shroud, cast into exile after a failed crusade against a daemon-worshipping cult that had taken root beneath the oceanic death-world of Kalgorr Tertius. Refusing to abandon the conflict even as their orbital support withdrew and their convent was consumed by tides, the surviving Sisters sealed themselves into salvaged deep-sea armor and descended into the abyss. There, among the ruins of submerged cathedrals and rotted cathedra tech, they continued their holy war in isolation, clinging to faith as both shield and chain. Over centuries, the Order adapted to its new, drowned reality—grafting relic components to ancient diving suits, inscribing new litanies into barnacle-crusted armor, and forging tridents to pierce the flesh of abyssal horrors. They became a silent vigil, haunting the deep with sacred wrath.
Shunned by most Imperial authorities as contaminated or possibly corrupted, the Sisters of the Order of the Drowned Martyr are spoken of in half-hushed tones by naval clergy and rogue traders. Their voices are rarely heard beyond the vox distortion of their helmets, and their relics are encrusted with coral and mystery. Yet when unsanctioned xenos relic-harvesting or warp-rifts bloom near drowned Imperial sites, it is said they emerge from the depths without warning—silent, radiant with phosphorescent glow, and merciless in their sanctified violence. Whether they are martyrs, monsters, or saints drowned in duty is debated across the stars, but none who witness their processions through flooded sanctuaries forget the solemn, terrifying grace of their procession. They are the Emperor’s wrath made abyssal flesh.
