About:

The (fictional) tropical island of Guarma is the setting for Red Dead Redemption 2's fifth chapter. Guarma is home to Caribbean sugar plantations and the ruined remains of Spanish colonialism from a century before. A coastal fort protects the bay, and the remains of a brick and stone arches litters the nearby beaches. The encroaching jungle seeks to take back what was taken from it, and palm trees and vines now grow out of the rubble.

Though the setting is from a "Western Cowboy" game, the ruined architecture and lush jungle scenery would be appropriate for many Caribbean island, British or Spanish colonialism, West India Company, or 1700s - 1800s pirate themed images. It's suitable for a range of styles, from anime and cartoon, all the way through to photo realistic.

This LoRA has been created from 939 images of the island's ruins and surrounding landscape. Different regions are captured at three different times of day, daytime sunset and nighttime for flexibility and atmosphere.

Use:

  • At a full strength weight of 1.0, it will produce images very close to the PC version of the game at high detail levels.

  • Weights between 0.7 - 1.0 are suitable for animation styles

  • Weights between 0.6 - 0.8 will get you into photo-realism territory with an appropriate checkpoint. Dial the weight up and down as needed.

  • While realism increases with lower weights, the grungy nature of the architecture will decrease, so take that into consideration.

Trigger Words: cav_rdrguarma is the main trigger. You can also use ruin beach jungle building fort cliff or tower. You can also mix in times of day, daytime sunset or nighttime for a consistent atmospheric variation. I'll be uploading a wide range of example images with full metadata, so take a look at those for some suggested starting prompts.

What's Next?

This is my second LoRA, after the snowbound mining town of Red Dead: Colter. I've never messed around with game mods before, but I found a few to fix time and weather, and remove all NPCs from the area, in addition to providing better camera control to capture more details quicker. This made the process of getting images much easier than my prior effort, and will hopefully speed up the process for my next virtual photographic expedition.
