失明少女没有提到名字，是一个在街头举着牌子乞讨的双目失明的少女，身上脏兮兮的。
她也是一名被诅咒的孩子“起始者(Initiator)”，出身于外围区。由于她的妈妈厌恶她的红眼，所以她把双眼灌了铅，导致失明。而她的妈妈将她抛弃了。
从失明少女口中得知，她还有一个妹妹。作为一位姐姐，失明少女没有别的方式，只能靠乞讨来生存下去，养活自己和妹妹。
但有太多的人憎恶“被诅咒的孩子”，所以，她在乞讨中经常被人戏弄和欺负。有人把易拉罐上扯下来的拉鼻，冒充硬币，丢到她的乞讨盆中。听到响声的她，还是衷心的说一句“谢谢”。
在路过的里见莲太郎和延珠遇到她之后，莲太郎给了她一些钱，让她离开危险的街头，但她并未离开。
莲太郎再次与她相遇时，又发现她被一群人欺负，并救下她。

The Blind Girl, whose name is never mentioned, is a grimy child, blind in both eyes, who begs on the street with a sign.
She is also one of the "Cursed Children," known as an "Initiator," from the Outer Area. Her mother, who despised her red eyes, poured lead into them, causing her to go blind, and then abandoned her.
It is revealed that the blind girl has a younger sister. As the older sister, she has no other way to survive and support them both except by begging.
However, because many people hate the "Cursed Children," she is often teased and bullied while begging. Some people would toss pull-tabs from soda cans into her begging bowl, tricking her into thinking they were coins. Upon hearing the sound, she would still offer a sincere "Thank you."
When Rentaro Satomi and Enju Aihara pass by and encounter her, Rentaro gives her some money and urges her to leave the dangerous streets, but she does not.
When Rentaro meets her again, he finds her being bullied by a group of people and rescues her.
In both the source material and the anime, the Blind Girl has a very small role; she is little more than a minor background character.
