Caravaggio (Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, 1571–1610) is remembered as one of the most influential painters of the Baroque era. His works broke away from idealized Renaissance traditions, favoring radical realism and dramatic chiaroscuro. A single shaft of light often cuts across the darkness, igniting flesh and fabric with sudden brilliance while leaving the rest in impenetrable shadow. His brushstrokes are dense and tactile, pressing pigment into rough textures of cloth, stone, and skin, creating an atmosphere of raw immediacy and intensity. The emotional climate of his paintings is equally striking: charged with tension, violence, devotion, or revelation, always suspended between shadow and illumination.

This LoRA seeks to capture those essential qualities — the dramatic light, the textured brushwork, and the solemn atmosphere — and bring them into the generative process. Trained for use with Pixelwave, it performs especially well in single-figure portraits, highlighting the sharp contrasts and painterly surfaces that define Caravaggio’s style. It can also be applied to multi-figure scenes to suggest group compositions with a heightened sense of drama. However, in complex group shots the faces may not always resolve with the same precision as in solo portraits, so the LoRA is best leveraged when the focus is on one or two central figures.
