Kei Toume is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator born April 13, 1970, in Kanagawa Prefecture. A graduate of Tama Art University's oil painting program, Toume debuted professionally in 1992 after winning the 11th Comic Burger Newcomer Award. Her acclaimed works include Sing "Yesterday" for Me (1997-2015), a melancholic slice-of-life romance exploring directionless youth and unrequited love, later adapted into anime; and Hitsuji no Uta (Lament of the Lamb), selected for the 6th Japan Media Arts Festival. Toume's delicate, atmospheric artwork and introspective storytelling capture quiet emotional depth and everyday melancholy with remarkable subtlety, establishing her as a distinctive voice in contemplative manga.
