tool💤 Lazy Smart Wildcards for ComfyUI
This node is for anyone who has never worked with wildcards before or just wants to create prompts as fast as possible. If you are tired of typing the same terms for hair, clothing, or locations over and over again, this node does the "busy work" for you. It's meant to be lazy.
Features
Auto-Infrastructure: Automatically creates the
ComfyUI/wildcardsfolder if it doesn't exist.Smart Sync: Automatically copies missing default lists from the node's template directory into your global wildcard folder.
Live Reload: Any changes to your
.txtfiles are updated instantly—no need to restart ComfyUI.No Repetition: The node remembers what it just rolled and keeps your images diverse based on your history settings.
Recursive Resolving: Supports nested wildcards (wildcards within wildcards) and the
{Option A|Option B}spin-syntax.Clean Logs: Shows you exactly which terms were chosen and which files were used directly in the terminal with color-coded feedback.
Installation
Go to your
ComfyUI/custom_nodes/folder.Drop the
LazySmartWildcardsfolder inside.(Optional) Create a
wildcards/subfolder inside the node directory for your own templates.Restart ComfyUI.
Usage
Search for 💤 Lazy Wildcards in the menu (found under CustomNodes/Prompting).
Inputs
output: Choose between a pre-made English sentence (Sentence) or a raw list of keywords (Tags).
random_all: Ignores your dropdown selections and randomizes everything.
history_depth: Sets how many rounds the node remembers previous choices to prevent repeats.
seed: The random value for your results.
💡 Important: Fixed Categories vs. Full Flexibility
This node is designed with fixed categories (subject, eyes, hair, emotion, clothing, location, lighting, style) to provide a structured and lightning-fast workflow.
If you need a node that is completely flexible, allows you to use any custom wildcard name, or lets you load files from subfolders dynamically, check out my other project:
👉 SmartWildcardLoader on Civitai
Use Lazy Wildcards for your daily "bread and butter" prompting and SmartWildcardLoader for complex, highly customized wildcard setups.
You can use my Wildcard Saver Node to Save your own Wildcards.
Adding Custom Wildcards
Just drop a .txt file into the ComfyUI/wildcards/ folder. Note: The filename must match the fixed category names in the node exactly (e.g., subject.txt for the "subject" dropdown).
