Marc Silvestri wasn’t a hustler like Todd McFarlane, a white-hot superstar like Jim Lee, or a meme machine like Rob Liefeld. What he was was the guy who set the house style for Image Comics. And how he runs the place, while Todd collects autographed baseballs and Jim gets blamed for every terrible creative decision at DC. So, uh, win?

I’ve learned the hard way that when an artist changes his style over time you need to focus on one single period or they’ll all just average out into blandness (RIP my one attempt at Walt Simonson), so this is trained entirely from Silvestri’s ‘90s and ‘00s Image and Top Cow work. No late ‘80s X-Men (to avoid the horrible desaturated colours on the early Prestige-format paper), and none of his modern, more scratchy stuff. No characters are tagged, as I only actually recognised The Darkness, Witchblade and We Have Psylocke At Home.

Usage:

-marcsilvestri is the trigger keyword.

-It can handle STR between 0.8 (for the general style) and 1.2 (if you want to force heavy cross-hatching). Anything over 1.3 will start to generate weird proportions – and we’re talking about the golden age of Image here, so proportions were already questionable.

-For verisimilitude, add hatching_\(technique\), traditional_media, and dutch_angle (he really likes those). And clenched_teeth and pouches, of course.

-I would actually advise against western_comics_\(style\), as that seems to overwrite the LORA with Illustrious’s own ideas of what western comics look like.
