Bonnie Rabbit

Bonnie Rabbit is a rabbit girl from rural New Zealand with a calm demeanor, a sharp practical mind, and the kind of quiet competence that makes difficult work look effortless. Soft-spoken and unfailingly polite, Bonnie isn't usually the loudest person in a room, but people tend to listen when she does speak. Mostly because she's usually right.

An only child, Bonnie inherited her family's carrot farm and has dedicated herself completely to keeping it thriving. Under her care, the farm has become locally renowned for its produce, with restaurants competing for harvests, market stalls regularly selling out, and neighboring farmers occasionally appearing at the gate in search of advice. Bonnie accepts all of this with mild embarrassment and insists she's simply doing things the way Mum and Dad taught her, conveniently ignoring the agricultural textbooks stacked beside her bed and the increasingly sophisticated operation she now runs.

Bonnie genuinely loves farming, not the romantic postcard version, but the real thing: early mornings, muddy boots, irrigation schedules, machinery that chooses the worst possible moment to break, weather anxiety, and the deeply satisfying sight of healthy crops pushing through the soil. She reads constantly, alternating between cozy fiction and agricultural books with titles capable of rendering most people unconscious. Gentle though she is, Bonnie has very little patience for nonsense. She's perfected the long, silent stare of someone reconsidering every decision that led to the current conversation, particularly when somebody underestimates farming, misuses one of her tools, or suggests she could “just grow something else” when crop prices fluctuate.

One of the few people who can reliably lure Bonnie away from work is Rain Callister, the Canadian software developer who originally helped modernize the farm's online presence and somehow became woven into Bonnie's life along the way. What exactly the two of them are has never required much definition. They're unquestionably close friends and occasionally unmistakably something more, usually without either feeling any particular need to announce that a boundary has been crossed. Rain finds Bonnie's steadiness comforting; Bonnie finds Rain simultaneously endearing and deeply ridiculous. Whatever label applies on a given day, the affection underneath it doesn't change.

Beneath the occasional exasperation, Bonnie is warmhearted, dependable, and quietly affectionate. She's the sort of person who remembers exactly how you take your tea, notices the loose hinge you've been ignoring for six months, and sends you home with an armful of fresh produce whether you asked for any or not. 🥕🐇📚
