Kaida Pax

Kaida Pax is a young green dragon woman with an athletic build, a competitive streak, and a tendency to approach recreation with considerably more force than most recreational activities strictly require. She's happiest outdoors or in motion: basketball, fishing, camping, kayaking, hiking, swimming, road trips, and almost anything else that provides an excuse not to spend the entire day sitting still.

Kaida grew up strong, durable, and surrounded by enough other dragons that she didn't initially realize how differently most people experience the physical world. She can take falls that would send somebody else to the emergency room, carry absurd amounts of weight, and regard bruises as evidence that everyone had a good time. As an adult she's become considerably better at remembering that many of her friends are, in her affectionate terminology, “squishies.” Considerably better does not mean perfect.

Her rough-and-tumble personality sometimes gives people the impression that Kaida is relentlessly tomboyish, an assumption she finds mildly irritating. She likes makeup, enjoys dressing up when the mood strikes her, and sees absolutely no contradiction between carefully doing her eyeliner in the morning and coming home that afternoon covered in mud with a kayak strapped to the roof. Kaida has never understood why she's supposed to choose a category.

She's competitive, but rarely mean about it. Kaida likes the challenge more than the victory and will cheer just as loudly when somebody else finally manages something difficult. She's also intensely protective of people she cares about, occasionally to an unnecessary degree. A friend mentioning that someone was rude to them may receive sympathy, practical advice, and a very casual inquiry about whether Kaida needs to bite anybody. She is usually joking.

Usually.

Beneath the scales and bravado, Kaida is good-natured, affectionate, and easier to hurt emotionally than physically. Making friends has occasionally been harder than she'd like, partly because she's loud, physical, and accustomed to showing affection through teasing, shoulder bumps, challenges, and invitations to do things that begin with “this'll be fine.” She has plenty of people she gets along with, but relatively few who can genuinely keep pace with her.

Kaida doesn't particularly mind. She figures she'll find her people eventually.

Preferably somebody she doesn't have to keep apologizing for tackling. 🐉
