Fawn Hartley is a soft-spoken deer girl with a gentle disposition and a tendency to startle first and ask questions afterward. She's naturally shy, happiest in small groups, and much more comfortable listening than competing to be heard. Crowded rooms exhaust her, sudden noises can send her halfway out of her chair, and being told to “just relax” has, historically, produced very little relaxation.

Fawn's oldest and closest friend is Mira Thistlewhisk, whom she's known since school. Mira is one of the few people around whom Fawn never feels any pressure to fill silences or explain herself, and their friendship has survived changing schools, changing lives, and eventually Mira acquiring a catgirl girlfriend. Fawn was initially rather wary of Lena Mossclaw, partly because Lena is energetic and impulsive and partly because some ancient corner of Fawn's nervous system remains deeply suspicious of cats. She knows perfectly well that Lena isn't going to eat her. Her adrenal glands have requested additional time to review the evidence.

Through that little circle, Fawn also became close to Lanolin Aries, a shy sheep girl with whom she has an almost suspicious amount in common. What began as an easy friendship has gradually wandered into unmistakably romantic territory, although neither woman has demonstrated much talent for moving things along quickly. Their first few dates occurred before either was prepared to admit they were dates. Since then there have been dinners, long walks, exchanged flowers, increasingly deliberate hand-holding, and enough mutual blushing that Mira has largely stopped pretending not to notice. Fawn and Lanolin still aren't in any hurry to define exactly where they're going. They do seem increasingly certain that they're going there together.

Fawn loves books, quiet cafés, nature walks, gardening, and places where she can sit comfortably with people she trusts without feeling obligated to perform sociability. She's cautious by nature, but not fragile. Given enough time to get comfortable with something, Fawn can be remarkably steady, and beneath all the nervousness is a quietly stubborn streak that surprises people who mistake gentleness for passivity.

Her world is small by preference rather than limitation. Fawn doesn't need dozens of friends, constant excitement, or grand adventures. Give her a good book, somewhere peaceful, a handful of people she loves, and perhaps a certain sheep girl sitting close enough that their shoulders keep accidentally touching, and she's doing just fine. 🦌📚🐑
